Why Is Tinkerbell No Longer a Disney Princess
Disney princesses were a big part of a lot of people's lives. Their stories taught children to be brave, persevere, and always believe that good triumphs over evil. New Disney princesses have been added over the years, but some of the princesses have actually lost their titles. Here are the names of the Disney princesses who lost their crowns.
Disney Princess list
Before we cover who lost their titles, let's look at the Disney princesses in order. Snow White was the first Disney princess. Her movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves came out in 1937. Then came Cinderella in 1950, and Aurora in Sleeping Beauty in 1959. Thirty years went by before Ariel was added to the roster with The Little Mermaid in 1989.
Belle became the fifth princess in 1991 with Beauty and the Beast. In 1992, Jasmine became a Disney princess through Aladdin. She was the first and is the only Disney princess not to be the main character in her movie. Next, came Pocahontas with her namesake movie in 1992.
In 1998, Mulan joined the Disney world with her film. She was the first Disney princess to not actually be royal. In 2009, Tiana also became a Disney princes with The Princess and the Frog, making her the first Black Disney princess.

Names of Disney Princesses who are no longer princesses
According to Disney Fandom, Tinker Bell used to be considered a Disney princess. However, in 2008, Tinker Bell got her own film, which has spawned several sequels. Since then, she has been removed from the Princesses franchise because she is in the Disney Fairies franchise.
In 1996, Esmerelda became a member of the Disney universe with The Hunchback of Notre Dame. When the Princesses franchise was created, Esmerelda was originally part of it. But in 2005, she was removed from the Princesses products being produced and was not seen with the other princesses at events. According to the outlet, she was removed because her sales were going down and Disney found her hard to market to younger audiences.

Jane Porter came into the Disney universe in Tarzan and later appeared again in Tarzan and Jane and the TV adaption, The Legend of Tarzan. She was originally considered a Disney princess but was later removed from the franchise because her color scheme was too similar to Belle's. In addition to her color scheme, as more princesses get added, the qualifications to be a princess change. Jane is technically a queen and was never a princess as she married Tarzan who was the leader (king) of the gorillas.
Will more princesses be added?
As Raya was just added this year, it is clear that Disney is not done adding to the Princess franchise. There are also several honorary princesses like Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Anastasia from Anastasia, Megara from Hercules, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, and Nala from The Lion King.
